Kunda happy with Japan's investiment |

Vice President George Kunda says he's happy with the Japan’s pragmatic approach in creating investment in Zambia.
Lusaka January 26 -- Vice President George Kunda says he's happy with the Japan’s pragmatic approach in creating investment in Zambia.
Mr. Kunda says this is because Zambia is in a hurry to develop its investment spectrum that can be used in creating employment and therefore reducing poverty levels.
The Vice President was speaking at his office today when a Japanese delegation led by Japan Foreign Affairs Minister called on him.
Mr. Kunda said there was need for the two countries to strengthen ties that can assist in the promotion of investment in the infrastructure development, mining and agriculture sectors that are vital in economic growth.
He noted that the delegations decision to invest in these areas is important as the country is going diversification process.
He added that Zambia has a lot of investment potential that needed to be explored in order to create a broad spectrum of the much needed economic activities for the country.
The Vice President further urged the delegation to visit other places are have investment opportunities.
Mr. Kunda expressed happiness that the delegation also consists of experts that can offer training to Zambians in various fields.
He further noted that the country tends to benefit a lot from Japan through enhanced trade in goods and services using their advanced machinery.
He said the 2008 Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) number four meeting confirms Japan’s commitment to invest in the African economies that include Zambia.
Delegation leader who is also Japan Foreign Affairs Minister Asako Okai pledged Japan’s commitment to accelerate African developmnt and hence reducing poverty in the continent.
Mr. Okai said there have chosen Zambia as their investment destination because of its good investment policies and environment.
And Hitachi General Manager Hidemi Murata has announced plans to open a manufacturing factory in Lusaka zone which is expected create for more 120 local people and further urging the Zambian government to support the initiative.
Mr. Murata said the factory will mainly be manufacturing mining equipment adding that the investment is aimed at expanding economic activities in both Zambia and the sub Sahara region.
The delegation comprises representative from 12 Japanese companies.
