President Wa Mutharika arrives for official visit

Lusaka------ Malawian President Bingu Wa Mutharika has arrived in the country for a three-day official visit.

President Banda welcomes Prof.Wa Mutharika at Lusaka International Airport
The presidential plane carrying Prof. Wa Mutharika and his entourage landed at the Lusaka International Airport at about 16:20 hours to a thunderous welcome.

 He was received on arrival at the airport by Republican President Rupiah Banda, several ministers, senior government and defence officials and Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) party cadres.
 The Malawian President was treated to a 21- gun salute by the Zambia Army and a guard of honour.
 President Wa Mutharika is in the country to officially open the 84th Agriculture and Commercial show on Friday.
 Prof. Wa Mutharika is also expected to hold a one-on-one official meeting with President Banda at State House on the same day.
 Later this evening, President Banda will host a State Banquet in honour of his Malawian counterpart.
 On Friday, President Wa Mutharika who is also African Union (AU) Chairperson, together with President Banda will tour selected but separate stands before officially opening the Show which has opened its gates to the public today.
 Later on the same day, the Show Society will host a Luncheon in honour of the two heads of State at Polo Grill.
 President Wa Mutharika is expected to leave Zambia on Saturday.
 About 1,000 local exhibitors and sixteen (16) African countries are expected to participate at this year’s show.
